KUALA LUMPUR: Which of brothers is the better footballer, Syamer Kutty Abba or Ahmad Haziq?
National midfielder Syamer said he will let the public answer this question.
Ahmad has come into the picture after making his presence felt in the Under-23 MFL Cup with Penang II. And he had also got a call-up for the national Under-23 team centralised training last month.
Syamer played his first game, albeit from the bench in Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) 3-0 Super League win over KL City last Wednesday after being out for eight months following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Syamer, 25, said he is happy to see Ahmad Haziq, 19, blossoming as a footballer, but his younger borther still has a long way to go.
"I hope that he will work hard, prove himself and do something for his club Penang," said Syamer who was part of the national team that finished second in the 2018 AFF Cup.
"I haven't seen him play recently. I know that he's a determined player. He often asks me for advice.
"I hope he can be a better player than me... he needs to prove something in his career.
"I know there will be some debate over who's the better player in the family. I will let the football fans decide themselves.
"I had my first game finally (against KL). I'm grateful for the best medical treatment provided by my club JDT, including treatment in Spain. I'm thankful to Tunku Ismail (Sultan Ibrahim, JDT club owner), who has always supported my football journey," said the Penangite.
"I'm so happy to play again. The ACL is not a normal injury."
