KUALA LUMPUR: While the FA of Malaysia (FAM) has yet to respond to allegations of fan assault during last week's FA Cup final, the national body on Tuesday imposed a one-month suspension against Selangor's Faisal Halim for his press statement after the Super League match against Sabah on April 27.
Selangor were the first to release a statement on Facebook before FAM confirmed Faisal's suspension through a press release, both on Wednesday.
Although the FAM disciplinary committee imposed a four-month suspension against Faisal, the winger will serve only a month (between July 25-Aug 23) subject to good behaviour.
"The remaining three months is subject to good behaviour for a period of 12 months, until Aug 24 next year," said the statement.
"However, Faisal can appeal to the appeals' committee."
With the development, Faisal will not be eligible for two Super League matches against Johor Darul Ta'zim and Negri Sembilan and two games against Police in the Malaysia Cup.
