Harimau Malaya get unprecedented low rating from Timesport

DOHA: How bad was Malaysia's performance in the 4-0 bashing by Jordan in their Asian Cup Group E opener on Monday?

Timesport's K. Rajan rates the Malaysian players' performances.

Ahmad Syihan Hazmi (3/10): The goalkeeper picked the ball four times from the net including the nightmare of being caught off line for the opener and getting chipped for the fourth goal.

Dion Cools (4/10): Performed better than his defensive partners but not enough to stop Jordan's onslaught.

Junior Eldstal (3/10): The towering 1.91m player struggled with Jordan's speed in the ground duels.

Matthew Davies (3/10): The skipper had a nightmare, giving away a penalty and was not his usual confident self.

La Vere Corbin Ong (4/10): The lanky player was deployed as the left wing-back but could not offer much in attack.

Arif Aiman Hanapi (4/10): The diminutive flanker was ineffective in the right wing-back position and lacked defensive discipline.

Stuart Wilkin (6/10): The Malaysian who came closest to scoring but his partnership with Afiq Fazail was ineffective.

Afiq Fazail (4/10): Looked anonymous and did not offer much protection to the backline.

Faisal Halim (5/10): The attacker had a quiet outing and could not breach Jordan's stout defence.

Romel Morales (3/10): Newly naturalised Colombian's baptism of fire in the Asian Cup saw him wilting at the frontline.

Darren Lok (5/10): Struggled to impose himself in the game and was taken out early in the second half for Shahrul Saad.

SUBS & COACH

Shahrul Saad (5/10): Came in too late to make a difference in defence.

Akhyar Rashid (5/10): Replaced the ineffective Morales but made minimal impact.

Paulo Jouse (5/10): The Brazilian-born midfielder was brought in for Arif Aiman in the hope of injecting bite into attack but it was too little too late to save Malaysia

Safawi Rasid (6/10): Replaced Faisal Halim and was the bright spark in the final 10 minutes but could not make a difference in the match.

Mohamadou Sumareh (5/10): Couldn't break into the Jordanian defence after coming in for Afiq Fazail in the last 10 minutes.

Kim Pan Gon (4/10): The South Korean coach's tinkering saw the nervous Malaysian team looking out of place and outplayed by Jordan.
