Is Harimau Malaya coach Pan Gon resigning? [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya coach Kim Pan Gon is expected to announce his resignation at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya, at 2pm today.

The South Korean tactician replaced Tan Cheng Hoe as head coach in 2022 and was given a contract extension until 2025.

However, he has decided to cut his contract short, and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) is expected to explain the situation at the press conference.

Korea Football News uploaded a photo of Pan Gon with the caption, "Malaysia national team manager will hold a press conference today to announce his resignation."

Pan Gon's resignation rumour was posted by Korea Football News on X.

Pan Gon made an immediate impact after his appointment by helping the national football team qualify for the Asian Cup on merit after 43 years.

At the tournament in Doha, Malaysia recorded a memorable 3-3 draw against a Son Heung Min-led South Korea but did not advance to the next stage from their group in January.

Under his guidance, Harimau Malaya achieved their highest world ranking of No. 130 after 18 years.

Malaysia recorded 19 wins, seven draws, and nine defeats from 35 matches under Pan Gon.
