KUALA LUMPUR: National women's coach Soleen Al-Zoubi believes her team are on the right track for next month's Asean Cup, following promising performances in recent friendlies in Dubai.
The Malayan Tigresses held Saudi Arabia to a 0-0 draw four days ago before defeating Laos 3-1 on Saturday.
"I'm happy, not just because we won, but because of the performances (against Laos). It was great to see the youngsters on the field, with 22 players getting game time across both matches," said Soleen.
"We achieved our tactical objectives and look forward to what's next. We'll try as many players as possible before the Asean Cup, but we now have a clearer picture of the squad."
In Saturday's match, world No. 96 Malaysia scored through Juliana Barek (23rd minute), Adrienna Zamzaihiri (30th), and Ayuna Anjani (63rd), while Laos netted a consolation goal through Inthida Khounsy (18th minute).
Malaysia are in Group B with Cambodia and Indonesia in the Women's Asean Cup from Nov 23-Dec 5.
