KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) stunning 3-0 win over Ulsan Hyundai in the Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) has boosted Malaysia's standing in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) members association (MA) rankings.
The victory over the K-League 1 champions at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday earned JDT 1.50 points, as per an unofficial update from the Footy Rankings website.
The additional points have raised Malaysia's total to 32.861, pushing them ahead of Australia to fifth in the East Asia Zone rankings. Australia, now in sixth, hold 32.624 points.
Although Selangor fell 1-0 to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) on Thursday, the Red Giants
contributed points from three earlier matches.
JDT, after four matches in the ACLE, have contributed 10.000 points, with Selangor adding 6.667 points.
The MA Rankings determine the number of representation slots each country receives in Asian club competitions.
