KUALA LUMPUR: Police staged a dramatic comeback with two stoppage-time goals to secure a stunning 2-1 victory over Negri Sembilan in the Malaysia Cup last 16 first leg at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, on Sunday.
The match, played on a waterlogged pitch, saw both teams struggle for rhythm in a goalless first half.
Negri broke the deadlock in the 69th minute when A. Selvan danced past three Police defenders before netting a brilliant solo goal.
However, the game took an astonishing turn in stoppage time. Police's Hadi Fayyadh Razak equalised in the 96th minute with a composed finish.
Two minutes later, Ifedayo Omosuyi capitalised on a defensive lapse, slotting past Negri goalkeeper Taufiq Ar Rasyid Johar to snatch a stunning win.
The victory hands Police a slender one-goal cushion ahead of the second leg at the Selayang Stadium on Nov 29.
