Danial says Harimau must show more bite

KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya scored five goals in two Asean Cup matches, but national midfielder Danial Amier Norhisham believes that his team are not aggressive enough.

Malaysia drew 2-2 with Cambodia in their opening match before beating Timor Leste 3-2 in Group A.

Danial, 27, said there is a lack of aggression and eagerness in the team.

Harimau don't have the appetite for goals? In contrast Thailand scored 10 goals against Timor Leste in 90 minutes.

Danial, who plays for Kuching City, admitted that the high expectations on Malaysia, coached by Spaniard Pau Marti Vicente, have added pressure to the team.

"We need to know our flaws and figure out how we can get better. We must be more aggressive and eager to give the national team a fighting chance."

Despite Malaysia's struggles against world No. 196 Timor Leste at Bukit Jalil on Wednesday, Danial said it was not due to adapting to Vicente's playing style.

"It's not difficult to adapt because Vicente's approach is straightforward."

On tomorrow's match against world No. 97 Thailand in Bangkok, Danial said: "We are up against a stronger team. Football has its ups and downs, but we have to keep going, work hard and believe in ourselves."
