KUALA LUMPUR: Not only has his family suffered from the war in Palestine, but his salary remains allegedly unpaid by Kelantan Darul Naim (KDN), leaving him unable to support his loved ones.
This is the plight of Palestine national player, Oday Kharoub, who revealed that his parents and four siblings back home have been unable to buy basic necessities for the past three months due to lack of financial support from him.
The 31-year-old midfielder revealed that he is facing immense hardship and is weighed down by guilt over his inability to provide for his family due to unpaid salary over the last three months.
"I play football and left Palestine solely to help my family, who is suffering due to the ongoing war. They rely entirely on me. Every month, I send them money for their expenses.
"Right now, I'm waiting for the (KDN) management to resolve this salary issue. If they pay me, I will stay, but otherwise, I might have to look for another team," he said.
Oday said that he had given KDN a deadline to resolve the salary issue, and if the Kelantan side fail to do so, he would complain to Fifa.
"Honestly, I would love to stay with KDN because of their incredible fans, but the salary issue is forcing me to consider other options," he added.
NSTP has tried contacting KDN for comments on the matter.
