Allianz Malaysia celebrates 10 years of media engagement with golf tournament

SHAH ALAM: Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) recently marked the 10th anniversary of its annual Allianz Golf with Media Tournament at the prestigious Saujana Golf and Country Club (SGCC).

The event brought together 70 participants, including local media golfers, senior management, and employees of Allianz Malaysia, for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.

This year's tournament saw participation from various media outlets, including regular attendees from New Straits Times, Berita Harian, Harian Metro, Media Prima, Media Mulia (Kosmo, Utusan Malaysia, The Malaysian Reserve), The Star, Astro, Bernama, The Edge, Sinar Harian, RTM, TV3, Cakap Sukan Online, Utusan TV, Par Golf, Suara Merdeka, Sports Writers Association (S.A.M.), Golf Malaysia, The Club House, and the National Press Club.

Representing Allianz Malaysia were notable figures such as chairman Zakri Khir, chief financial officer Giulio Slavich, and Board members Peter Ho Kok Wai and Wong Kok Leong.

"Our goal at Allianz Malaysia has always been to foster meaningful relationships with the media, recognising the crucial role they play in shaping informed communities and a well-rounded society," said Giulio Slavich.

"This tournament is our way of showing gratitude to the media fraternity, acknowledging the challenges they face in their daily efforts to highlight important issues and share our company's values, innovations, and achievements."

In the individual category, Mahathir Mohd Sidi from Media Prima emerged as the champion, scoring 38 points and winning a SGCC Golfing Voucher Green Fee Full Flight Weekday Package worth RM2,000.

James Morrison from Astro secured second place with 37 points on countback, earning a SGCC Golfing Voucher Green Fee Half Flight Weekday Package worth RM1,500, while L. Jaiarajo from Bernama claimed third place with 37 points, receiving an AEON voucher worth RM500.

In the team category, the championship team comprised Ismadi Manap (RTM), James Morrison (Astro), Azizi Fikry (Sinar Harian), and Wong Kok Leong (Allianz Malaysia), who collectively scored 108 points.

The second-place team included Zaharuddin Mohamad (Media Mulia), Azlan Naim Abdullah (Utusan TV), L. Jaiarajo (Bernama), and Rastam Ariffin (Allianz Malaysia) with 104 points. The third-place team winners were Mahathir Mohd Sidi (Media Prima), Intan Farhana (The Edge), and Cheah Lye Cheong (Allianz Malaysia).

Prizes were presented to the winners by Zakri Khir, Giulio Slavich, and members of the Allianz Malaysia Berhad Board.
