Young Tigers to go Down Under for exposure

KUALA LUMPUR: The Young Tigers will go tomorrow to Brisbane, Australia, for a six-match hockey playing tour.

The 26-player team will feature eight who played in the World Junior Cup in Bukit Jalil last December.

They are goalkeepers Rafaizul Saini and Danish Afnan Faizal, defender Andywalfian Jeffrius, midfielders Adam Ashraf Johari and Danish Daniel Abd Wahab, and forwards Haris Iskandar Osman, Danish Aiman Khairil Anwar and Che Nur Aqirullah Che Khaurulzi Anwar.

The Malaysians will play four matches against the Australian National Under-21 team from July 27-31 and two matches against the Queensland team on Aug 1 and 5.

Coach I. Vikneswaran will be assisted by Hairi Rahman, Hanafi Hassan and Chairil Anwar.

Team manager Ganesan Shanmugam said the purpose of the tour is to help the national juniors gain exposure and experience for the Sultan of Johor Cup (Oct 18-26) and Junior Asia Cup in December (venue yet to be decided).
