KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Young Tigresses are just one win away from booking a spot in the Junior World Cup (JWC) in Chile, next year.
Lailin Abu Hassan's side crushed Hong Kong 11-0 in a women's Junior Asia Cup (JAC) playoff match in Muscat on Saturday.
Malaysia will face Thailand, who edged Taiwan 2-1, tomorrow for fifth place and a JWC berth.
Malaysia's goals came from Azmyra Mia Sofea Azhairy (fourth, 16th, 28th minutes), Anith Humaira Baharudin (20th, 45th, 49th), Noor Asyiqin Syakirah Noor Hisyam (30th, 39th), Nurshamine Azureen Badusha (fifth), Nurdini Batrisyia Ridzuan (17th), and Siti Nur Irdina Nor (54th).
Anith was named Player of the Match, while Azmyra received the Rising Star award for her performance.
Lailin cautioned his players against underestimating Thailand, despite a 3-0 group stage victory over them earlier in the tournament.
"This is a do-or-die match for both teams, and Thailand will go all out to beat us and secure their JWC ticket," said Lailin.
"We will play a cautious game."
