BERLIN: Title challenger Lando Norris of McLaren has sealed pole position for tomorrow's (Sept 22) Singapore Formula One Grand Prix, reported German news agency (dpa).
Briton Norris, battling to topple world champion and standings leader Max Verstappen, set one minute 29.525 seconds to just edge out the Dutchman for a sixth pole in his career.
Lewis Hamilton will start third on the grid after a late burst under the floodlights on the city state's street circuit.
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, who won here from pole last season, crashed into the wall to prompt a red flag. He was unhurt but must start the race from 10th.
Stewards then rushed to remove his car so that qualifying could continue.
McLaren have been also-rans since Hamilton's world title for the British team in 2008. — BERNAMA
