KUALA LUMPUR: Abdul Latif Romly retained his T20 long jump title at the World Para Athletics Championships in London on Sunday for Malaysia's second gold medal at the competition.
After shot putter Ziyad Zolkefli's victory on Saturday, Latif came through to win in a championship record of 7.37 metres, improving on his previous mark set two years ago in Doha by two centimetres.
Croatia's Zoran Talic claimed silver with 7.32m, while Dmytro Prudnikov won bronze with 7.12m.
Like Ziyad, Latif too will be competing at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games next month where he will be aiming for a spot on the podium.
In other events, Ridzuan Puzi advanced to the final of the men's T36 200m event after finishing third in his heat in 25.39 seconds.
Nasharuddin Mohamed set a new Asian record in the men's T20 400m to reach the final in 50.03 seconds, while Saifuddin Ishak finished seventh in the men's T12 long jump final in 6.08 metres.
