Siti Safiyah wants best ever World Cup finish

KUALA LUMPUR: Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman is confident of achieving her best ever result in the AMF World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Playing in her fourth World Cup, the 27-year-old, moved up to sixth on the 54-bowler field qualifying list on Wednesday when she reeled in lines of 227, 227, 206, 241, 194, 222 for a grand total of 3,851 pinfalls.

Siti, who won a title in the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour in June, now aims to do better than her previous best which was third in the 2009 edition in Melaka.

"It has been a great season so far. Winning the PWBA Tour’s Wichita Open was a fantastic achievement. Hopefully, I can do better here and finish on the podium,” she said.

Sweden's Jenny Wegner leads on 4,096, followed by Australia's Rebecca Whiting (3,970) and Germany's Vanessa Timter (3,942).

In the men’s event, Ahmad Muaz Fishol dropped three rungs to 11th after Wednesday’s third block of six games.

The Kedan-born posted lines of 213, 236, 180, 235, 201, 215 for a grand total of 3,847 pinfalls.

England's Ray Teece leads the 64-bowler field on 4,020 pinfalls, followed by Colombia's Oscar Rodriguez (3,951) and American Jakob Butturff (3,950).
