Sports Commissioner's Office gives final warning to MSBF

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sports Commissioner’s Office (SCO) have given the Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (MSBF) a final warning to provide the necessary information, including their Annual General Meeting (AGM) minutes, or could face deregistration.

After several reminders went unanswered, SCO had earlier this month sent a final warning letter to MSBF.

MSBF have to respond within 30 days with information in eight different areas including financial reports, activity and programme reports, current line-up of office bearers and also their AGM minutes.

Failure to do so, will see MSBF being served with a show cause letter and failure to reply within 30 days will see them being deregistered.

According to SCO records, MSBF have not held their AGM since 2013.

Sports Commissioner Datuk Zaiton Othman said MSBF should set a good example as the custodian of their sport.

"As the national body, they (MSBF) should lead by example especially in terms of good governance," said Zaiton, when contacted yesterday.

"It is sad when a national body do not manage themselves well. How are they going to support their affiliates and help the sport reach greater heights?"

SCO encourage all national bodies to hold their AGM annually, However, they require that they conduct their elections at least once every three years.
