GOLD COAST: The national hockey team are pumped up to face India in Tuesday's Commonwealth Games Pool B match as Stephen Van Huizen's boys eye revenge at the Gold Coast Hockey Stadium.
England and India have four points each with the former at the top of the pool on goal difference, with Pakistan third (three points), Malaysia (three points) and Wales (one).
A win for either team today will put them on the right track for the semi-finals.
India coach Sjoerd Marijne said his team need to be cautious and not concede unnecessary penalty corners against Malaysia.
World No 6 India were held 2-2 by Pakistan in their opening match before they edged Wales 4-3 on Sunday.
Malaysia are known for their prowess in penalty corners and on a good day, Van Huizen's team can cause upsets.
"We need to be at our best if we hope to beat Malaysia and also qualify for the semi-finals. Tomorrow, we need to take our opportunities, especially from penalty corners," said Marijne.
For the record, Malaysia have lost the last three encounters against India after the World No 12 had defeated their rivals at last year's World League Semi-Finals in London.
Malaysia will go into the match fresh as they had a three-day break after the 3-0 win over Wales.
Van Huizen said the matches against India and Pakistan, which are scheduled 24 hours apart, will be crucial.
"India and Pakistan are our traditional rivals, and matches against them have always been tight and exciting.
"We need to beat them to qualify for the semi-finals. My players have ironed out certain aspects in their game and are ready for both India and Pakistan," Van Huizen said.
Malaysia last won a Commonwealth Games medal, a bronze at the 2006 edition in Melbourne.
