SUBANG JAYA: Former national bowler Hee Kar Yen, continued her impressive form when she clinched the women's singles gold for Kuala Lumpur at the National Interstate Championships on Monday.
The 28-year-old dominated from the start, reeling in lines of 223, 234, 241, 209, 233 and 204 for a 1,344 total, 61 pins ahead of silver medallist Nerosha Keligit of Sarawak.
Selangor's Qistina Zainal settled for the bronze on a 1,241 series.
It was Kar Yen’s second gold medal in the competition since winning the team gold for KL in 2013.
Kar Yen hopes the victory will inspire her for Saturday’s National Championships.
"The short oiling pattern has always been my favourite, so I took full advantage of it" said Kar Yen, who quit the national team in 2015.
"Winning my first individual gold in the Interstate is special, but it was more important to help KL get off to a good start. We want to become overall champions again."
Kar Yen has been recording decent results of late. She finished fourth at the Hong Kong Open and sixth at the Macau Open last month.
