Malaysia's Alpine skier Jeffrey Webb's second appearance at the Winter Olympics came to a premature end after he slipped and fell in the men's slalom in Beijing yesterday.
Jeffrey was one of over 30 skiers who were marked as "did not finish" (DNF) and subsequently he missed the cut for the second run at the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Centre.
Team manager Salehhuddin Ayob said: "Jeffrey did his best but slipped and fell. It was a shame that it happened quite early in his run."
"I was waiting at the bottom (of the mountain) and was quite worried when he did not come down after his turn.
"Luckily he came down with the rest of the skiers at the end (of the session) and was okay. He did not suffer any serious injuries.
"It was just not to be. Unfortunately that is just how it is sometimes. I am sure he will continue to work hard for the future."
Jeffrey became the first Malaysian to compete in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018, where he placed 68th in the giant slalom. He did not compete in the discipline this time.
Malaysia were represented by only two athletes — Jeffrey and fellow alpine skier Aruwin Salehhuddin in Beijing. Aruwin finished 38th in the women's giant slalom last week.
