The National Silat Federation (Pesaka) have hinted at a possible revamp of the national squad after narrowly missing out on their medal target at the Hanoi Sea Games.
The silat squad, who had targeted three gold in Vietnam, ended the competition with two gold, three silver and nine bronze on Monday.
Malaysian exponents reached four finals in the "olahraga" discipline, which saw the introduction of new rules this year, but only managed one gold via Khairi Adib Azhar (men's Under-55kg) while the other gold was won by seni doubles pair Taqiyuddin Hamid-Sazzlan Yuga.
Pesaka president Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin disclosed that any changes to the national setup will only be announced after an official review of their Sea Games campaign.
The squad's next major assignment will be the World Championships in Melaka on July 21-29.
"We do have some plans (to reshuffle). However, it is too early to announce them. We have to look at the reports first," said Zulkarnain.
"We are not looking to blame anyone, especially as these (olahraga) rules are still new and the coaches are still getting used to understanding with which (fouls) can be protested.
"Overall, we didn't do too badly. We sent 10 exponents to Hanoi for the olahraga event and every one of them returned home with a medal which is a good sign. We just need to adjust their training."
