Kuala Lumpur: Ng Eain Yow and S. Sivasangari claimed the men's and women's premier division titles respectively in the National Championships at the National Squash Centre, Bukit Jalil, today.
Eain Yow, 24, downed defending champion Ivan Yuen for his first national title in seven attempts. Previously, his closest effort was runner-up to Ivan in 2019.
There was no stopping the world No 23 this time as he powered to an 11-6, 11-3, 11-2 triumph in the final.
Women's national No 1 Sivasangari capped a strong showing this week by taking her second national title.
The world No 19 however had to work hard for an 12-10, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 win over a determined national No 2 Aifa Azman.
Sivasangari, who won her first national title in 2018, started strongly by taking a 7-3 and 10-7 lead in the first game.
Aifa however fought back to force deuce before Sivasangari stepped up a notch to nick the first game.
The younger Kedahan was however far from done as she rallied with some excellent drop shots to take the second game 11-9. But Sivasangari ramped up the pressure to seal the win in 33 minutes.
