Malaysian surfers to compete at Asian Surfing Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: Surfing Malaysia Association has received an invitation to compete at the ASF Asian Surfing Championships in Maldives on July 8-17.

The competition, which is a platform for surfers to showcase their talent, will feature a men's and women's open, Under-18 boys' and girls' categories as well as the Shortboard Aloha Cup.

The Malaysian team will compete in the men's shortboard category thanks to sponsorship secured from DMM Sales Daihatu Malaysia, National Sports Council and AirAsia.

ASF (Asian Surfing Federation), which is the governing body for surfing in Asia, is recognised by both the International Surfing Association and the Olympic Council of Asia.

The competition is being organised in collaboration with Maldives Surfing Association and with support from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
