Malaysia collect four Asiad medals today [NSTTV]

HANGZHOU: The medals were coming in for Malaysia on day six of the Hangzhou Asian Games today.

But none of them was gold. Malaysia garnered one silver and three bronze medals instead.

Just like the 2018 edition, Malaysia had to settle for the men's sepak takraw team silver after they were outclassed 2-0 by Thailand in the final.

Track cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom, who clinched the sprint bronze a day earlier, collected another bronze, this time in the keirin, finishing behind China's gold medallist Zhou Yu and South Korea's Kang Seojun (silver).

Artistic gymnast Sharul Aimy Kamaru Hisam delivered a surprise in the vault when he upstaged Olympic champion Shin Jae Hwan of South Korea

for bronze.

Sharul became the second Malaysian gymnast in 17 years to finish on the Asiad podium after Ng Shu Wai's silver (vault) in the 2006 Doha Asian Games.

The Malaysian men's squash team delivered the third bronze medal of the day after losing 2-0 to India in the semi-final.

After six days of competition, the Malaysian contingent have collected two gold, three silver and eight bronze.
