KUALA LUMPUR: The penultimate day of the Hangzhou Asian Games saw China topping the medal standings with 189 gold, 106 silver and 66 bronze.
In a distant second were Japan with 47 gold, 59 silver and 66 bronze while South Korea stood third with 38 gold, 51 silver and 87 bronze.
India (25-35-40) and Uzbekistan (20-18-26) settled for fourth and fifth respectively.
The Malaysian contingent were further down in 14th with five gold, eight silver and 18 bronze for a total of 31 medals, which surpassed their 27-medal target.
