MTBC to appeal for bowling's inclusion at 2025 Sea Games

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) will submit an appeal to the Sea Games Federation (SEAGF) through the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) to consider bowling's inclusion in the 2025 Sea Games in Thailand.

MTBC acting president Datuk Mohammed Najeeb Abdullah expressed confidence that OCM, led by Tan Sri Norza Zakaria, would take proactive steps to help their cause.

"MTBC is disappointed as bowling is not among the 40 medal sports in next year's edition.

"The sport has never been left out in recent times from the Sea Games, except for the 2023 edition in Phnom Penh, as Cambodia had no bowling centres," said Najeeb during the Asian Junior Bowling Championships in Sunway Megalanes here on Saturday.

Najeeb believes that the appeal, to be made before Aug 31, will have the support of member countries as most of them have bowlers.

He said there should be no problems with bowling venues in Thailand, which regularly host tournaments.

On Friday, OCM announced that it would submit an appeal to SEAGF to include some sports with the potential to contribute medals to Malaysia in the 2025 edition. – BERNAMA
