KUALA LUMPUR: Andrik Lim and U. Thanussa lived up to their top billing by winning the men's and women's titles respectively in the inaugural Sharon Wee Trophy in Melaka yesterday.
Andrik beat Veroon Heng 11-9, 11-9, 11-5 while Thanussa overcame Goh Zhi Xuan 12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5.
Under-19 Asian champion Thanussa said it was an honour for her as Sharon is her role model. "She is not only a former squash champion but a mentor to me and many up coming players."
Andrik, who is studying at Trinity College in the United States, is on summer break "I'm glad to compete in the tournament and become a Melaka state champion."
The Sharon Wee Trophy is a platform for squash development in Melaka.
