Eain Yow sets a high standard for himself

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's world No. 14 Ng Eain Yow downed American

world No. 60 Shahjahan Khan 11-5, 11-8, 11-2 to reach the men's quarter-finals of the US$64,000 Malaysia Cup at the Curve Mall in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.

Asian champion Eain Yow, who is seeded second, will face Spain's eighth seed Bernat Jaume next.

Eain Yow, 26, who won the German Open in April, said he set a very high standard for himself in tournaments.

"In terms of my fundamental game, I'm doing well. But I was not the happiest person with my performance today.

"I was getting used to the court as this was my first match. My opponent really played well and he did not give me a lot of opportunities. But I had to stick to my game plan.

"I hope to reset my body and focus throughout the quarter-final match (today).

"I play 15 tournaments a year from August to June, and my parents only get to watch me once when the tournament is held in Malaysia," said Eain Yow.
