PARIS; Coco Gauff captured her first Grand Slam doubles title Sunday, winning the French Open final in straight sets with partner Katerina Siniakova.
Gauff, 20, and her teammate from the Czech Republic defeated Italians Jasmine Paolini and Sarra Errani 7-6 (5), 6-3 in Paris.
Gauff, the 2023 US Open singles champion, lost both of her previous Grand Slam doubles finals at Roland Garros in 2022 and the US Open in 2021.
"Third time's a charm. Thank you, Katerina, for playing with me," Gauff said.
"We decided two days before the tournament to play together. Thank you to the fans. I know 11.30am Sunday morning is early for most people. It's early for me."
Gauff was the only player who didn't lose her serve in the 1-hour, 47-minute match. Gauff and Siniakova trailed 5-4 in the first set and fell behind 5-3 in the tiebreak before rallying.
Gauff and Siniakova dropped only one set in the tournament.
Paolini also finished runner-up in the singles competition, losing to Poland's Iga Swiatek on Saturday. --REUTERS/Field Level Media
