KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian President Joko Widodo today led a motorcycle convoy comprising top officials and celebrities on a highway towards the republic's new capital of Nusantara in East Kalimantan.
According to Antara News, the president, or Jokowi as he is commonly known, rode a turquoise bike wearing a black jacket as he tested the new toll road to Nusantara.
Others in the convoy included Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and celebrities Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina, among others.
"We have tested the toll road, which is not 100 per cent complete; it was smooth and comfortable," he said.
He joked that the group had to chase Hadimuljono, who was riding too fast ahead of them.
"We had to chase him; otherwise, we would have been left far behind," Jokowi said.
Jokowi is set to hold the first Cabinet meeting in the new presidential palace in Nusantara soon.
He said they are awaiting the return of several ministers who are abroad.
Jokowi and First Lady Iriana will spend a night at the presidential palace on Sunday and he will work from his new office on Monday.
