DBE Gurney to open HARUMi fried chicken restaurants in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: DBE Gurney Resources Bhd (DBE) is partnering Thailand's Farmmesh Foods Co Ltd to operate Harumi fried chicken quick service restaurants in Thailand.

In its filing with the stock market today, DBE said this partnership will expand HARUMi signature restaurants in the overseas market, thus sustaining business competitiveness and generate positive earnings for the group.

yesterday, DBE's wholly owned unit D.B.E. Poultry Sdn Bhd (DBE Poultry) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Farmmesh Foods to retail poultry and meat products.

Under the MOU, both parties agreed to operate Harumi Thailand through a joint venture arrangement with 30 per cent ownership by DBE Poultry and 70 per cent by Farmmesh Foods.

The expected investment cost of US$253,000 (about RM989,230) will be internally funded by DBE Poultry (US$76,000) and Farmmesh Foods (US$177,000).

The two parties aim to open its first standard quick service restaurant by July 2018 and operate two Harumi standard and signature quick service restaurants by the end of 2018.
