KUALA LUMPUR: Handal Resources Bhd has appointed Sunildeep Singh Dhaliwal as its group managing director effective July 30, 2018.
In a statement, Handal said Sunildeep is a co-founder and director of the Borneo SeaOffshore Group of Companies (BSO Group), a rapidly growing oil and gas service provider.
Incorporated in 2005, the BSO group provides vessel support, maintenance of pipelines, structures and platforms.
BSO group is presently a shareholder of Handal, with a 7.3 per cent equity stake via Borneo SeaOffshore Sdn Bhd.
The integrated offshore crane services provider has also announced a slew of other appointment and redesignations to its board of directors.
This includes the redesignation of Datuk Mohsin Abdul Halim to non-independent non-executive chairman from executive chairman and Mallek Rizal Mohsin as executive vice chairman from previously group managing director.
Mallek is also appointed as the group’s risk management committee chairman.
Besides that, Handal has also appointed Tengku Baderul Zaman Ibni Sultan Mahmud as an independent non-executive director.
It has also announced the appointment of Tan Sri Dr Mohd Munir Abdul Majid as an independent non-executive director and chairman of the nomination committee and Jacqueline Fong Yean Yee as independent non-executive director and chairperson of the remuneration committee.
Handal said the changes in the board are intended to strengthen the Board’s composition, independence and accountability, apart from embracing diversity.
“The restructuring exercise is also in line with the group’s efforts to raise its corporate governance standards, as previously both Mohsin and Mallek were holding executive positions on the board.
“On that note, the redesignation of Mohsin to a non-executive role will allow him to focus on leading the board and promoting good corporate governance practices in the group,” it said.
