KUALA LUMPUR: FGV Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Mohd Hairul Abdul Hamid as its chief financial officer (CFO), effective January 2, 2019.
Prior to this, Mohd Hairul, 48, was Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd CFO until December 2018.
FGV’s former CFO Ahmad Tifli Datuk Mohd Talha has resigned on October 12, 2018 to pursue other career opportunities.
Earlier in October, director Datuk Ab Ghani Mohd Ali tendered his resignation while Datuk Dr Othman Omar was appointed the same day as director.
In September, Datuk Zakaria Arshad resigned as group president/chief executive officer.
To date, no chief executive officer (CEO) appointment has been made by the group, with chairman Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid holding interim CEO position for now.
The group targets to finalise the appointment of its CEO by end-January 2019.
To recap on related news, former chairman of FGV Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad and eight other former directors and top management members, including Tifli, were ordered to file their statement of defense in December in a lawsuit by the company for the recovery of a RM514 million loss from its RM1.1 billion acquisition of London-listed Asian Plantation Ltd (APL) in 2014.
This was announced by counsel Lavinia Kumaraendran who represented Mohd Isa after the matter came up before deputy registrar Farah Shuhada Ramli in chambers on December 21.
Lavinia said the matter has been fixed for further case management on February 12 before High Court judge Datuk Azimah Omar.
She said the statement of claim was served on the nine defendants on December 19.
“So far, only certain defendants have been represented and they were ordered to file their defence by January 31. However, the defendants who were not represented have not been served the claims yet,” she said.
Those who were unrepresented were FGV former senior vice president Farisan Mokhtar and directors Datuk Omar Salim, Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid, Datuk Yahaya Jabar and Datuk Faizoull Ahmad.
FGV also named in the lawsuit its former group president and chief executive officer Mohd Emir Bavani Abdullah and former senior general manager Rasydan Alias Mohamed.
