Westports replaces Hap Seng as FBM KLCI constituent

KUALA LUMPUR: Westports Holdings Bhd has been included in the constituents of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI), replacing Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd.

This follows the semi-annual review of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series.

All constituent changes would effect at the start of business on December 20. The next review will take place in June 2022.

The index series is reviewed semi-annually in accordance with the index ground rules.

The FBM KLCI, which is part of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series, is widely used by investors as the primary benchmark for the Malaysian market, including derivatives through FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI), and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Options (OKLI).

The benchmarks are also tracked by several index-linked financial products, such as exchange-traded funds.

In a joint statement on Thursday, FTSE Russell and Bursa Malaysia said the FBM KLCI reserve list, comprising the five highest-ranking non-constituents of the index by market capitalisation, will be Inari Amertron Bhd, QL Resources Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd and ViTrox Corporation Bhd.

They said the reserve list would be used if one or more constituents were deleted from the FBM KLCI in accordance with the index ground rules during the period up to the next semi-annual review.
