2022 Proton Saga available in four variants

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd is offering four variants for its latest 2022 Saga, which was launched at the Proton Centre of Excellence (CoE) Subang Jaya, today.

The four variants - Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT and a new Premium S AT - are priced at RM34,400, RM38,300, RM41,300, and RM44,300 respectively.

The on-the-road prices are valid until June 30 with sales tax exemption without insurance.

"This latest update further extends the heritage of Proton's all-time best-selling model for drivers of all ages and backgrounds, and with more than 1.9 million units having been sold in over 28 markets worldwide, we are confident the Saga name will continue to thrive for many more years," said Proton deputy chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah.

The facelift 2022 Saga features updates inside out as well as improved fuel efficiency with the help of features such as an ECO Drive Assist indicator to highlight how efficiently it is being driven.

It has a bold new front and sporty side skirts complimented by new 15-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lamps.

Inside the new Premium S variant in particular features a sporty dark colour scheme, redesigned semi-leatherette seats, and new carpet mats with red edging. 

The steering wheel, wrapped in leatherette with red finishing on the steering switches, comes with tilt adjustment builds on the theme.

Meter combination rings and air outlets carrying the same flash of red while the finishing touch is provided by redesigned climate control switches that are paired to the N95 Cabin Filter to filter out smoke particulates, dust, bacteria and other pollutants.

Its seven-inch touchscreen head unit now has the latest operating software and Bluetooth 4.2 for better wireless connectivity. It also pairs seamlessly with Android and iOS smartphones. 

Switches located on the steering wheel allow for easy access to change audio settings and answer calls while driving, and three conveniently located USB ports make it easy to charge electronic devices. 

Lastly, a text reminder appears on the monitor asking owners to check if they have all their belongings and haven't left their children behind once the engine is switched off.

Smart features include intelligent entry and door mirrors that automatically unfold when unlocking the car, a new push start button, and a remote trunk release on the key fob for easier to access the boot. 

The 420-litres of boot space can be expanded by using the rear seat fold function to transport oversized items.

All variants are powered by a 1.3 litre four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC VVT engine with a maximum output of 95 PS at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. 

They are paired to a four-speed automatic transmission save for the most affordable Standard MT thatn8s paired to a five-speed manual transmission.

Safety features includes two SRS airbags are standard across all variants together with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). 

All automatic transmission variants are also equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Hold Assist (HHA), and a reverse camera paired to front and rear parking sensors.

The 2022 Proton Saga is now open for bookings online and at authorised Proton showrooms. 

It is available in five exterior colours: Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Rosewood Maroon and Ruby Red.
