TM launches new home internet package for underserved communities

KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has kicked off its new home internet, Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap, dedicated to the underserved communities and bridging the digital divide via hyperconnectivity.

TM's offering also gives communities the necessary resources to succeed in the digital age.

The partnership between TM and the government signified a shared commitment to fulfilling digital inclusivity throughout the country.

TM chief corporate and regulatory officer, Tengku Muneer Tengku Muzani said that Unifi's fixed broadband services are more affordable to ensure access to reliable internet connectivity for more Malaysians.

"This will enhance their online experience and enable them to participate in the digital economy, which is crucial for the country's economic growth," he said.

Unifi's Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap offered an unlimited fixed broadband package at RM69 with savings of RM480 across 24 months for all new and existing Unifi customers from those key target segments.

Registration is open for all eligible subscribers but will be limited to only one package per person.

Muneer also said the company is uniquely positioned to balance its stakeholders' interests and ensure commercial sustainability while enabling digital inclusivity and promoting national development initiatives.

"With a commitment to excellence and innovation, TM remains dedicated to delivering the best broadband experience and driving a Digital Malaysia.

"We remain committed to providing innovative solutions and services that cater to the evolving needs of all Malaysians. We believe everyone should have equal access to the benefits of the digital world, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this effort," he added.

The new home internet package is aligned with the Communications and Digital ministry's efforts to address underserved Malaysians' rising concerns about accessing reliable and affordable internet services, especially from the B40, the elderly, people with disabilities (PwD) and army-police veterans.

Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap is available for subscription nationwide after its official launch by the communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil on Friday.

Last month, TM also announced an affordable prepaid mobile, Pakej Perpaduan Prabayar Mudah Alih, to enable further connectivity and reinforce TM's fixed-mobile convergence leadership.

They offer integrated fixed broadband, mobile services and digital content to more Malaysians.

These offerings are provided through Unifi Home and Unifi Mobile, respectively.

"This initiative is a testament to our commitment to social responsibility and creating a more connected world. It also speaks to our vision of becoming a human-centred TechCo, leveraging technologies to provide equal opportunities for every Malaysian.

"Through our role in digital nation-building, we are committed to serving the nation's interests more directly and to bring greater impact to our diverse communities," Muneer said.
