KUALA LUMPUR: PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri (TransNusa), an Indonesian premium carrier, is making headlines again as its inaugural flight from Jakarta land at Senai Airport, Johor today as per schedule.
This expansion comes after the airline had just introduced its first international route from Jakarta to Malaysia's bustling metropolis, Kuala Lumpur less than five months ago.
"We are pleased to announce that today's flight was a great success and we, at TransNusa, are excited for what lies in the future.
"The flight from Jakarta to Johor had a full load and the flight went on without any issues," said TransNusa chief executive officer Datuk Bernard Francis.
With the introduction of its Kuala Lumpur route on April 14 , 2023, TransNusa transitioned from a domestic commercial airline to an international commercial airline.
Johor is the most recent addition to the airline's ever-expanding list of destinations.
The airline plans to operate one daily flight from Jakarta to Johor and five weekly flights from Jakarta to Johor, with the flight to Johor departing at 12:30pm and arriving at 3:15pm .
Aside from that, the flight from Johor to Jakarta will take off at 3:45pm and land at Soekarno Airport at 4:20pm.
The new international commercial airline has developed its own set of products, which sets it apart from the rest of the full-fledged and low-cost airlines operating in Malaysia and other parts of Southeast Asian.
Aside from developing new routes for its passengers, TransNusa's main goal is to constantly push the boundaries of the airline industry, as evidenced by the airline's creation of an entirely new segment within the industry becoming the first premium service provider.
The airline examines its passengers' demands and needs, which have significantly changed as a result of the pandemic, and developed a new business model that sits squarely between full-service commercial airline offerings and above low-cost airline products and services.
"We had three years to reassess our strategies and reinvent ourselves. We redefined ourselves in the global market as a premium service airline, utilising a new business model that offers products and services," Francis said.
"This is comparable to those provided by full–service commercial airlines as well as better than those provided by low-cost airlines," he added.
