KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened mixed despite Wall Street's positive performance.
At 9:05 AM, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined 5.31 points to 1,547.38 from Tuesday's closing of 1,552.69.
By 9.35am, the index rebounded 0.12 per cent, gaining 1.89 points to reach 1,554.58.
Across the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers at 322 to 165, while 312 stocks remained unchanged.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd said the FBM KLCI extended its downtrend, hitting a year-to-date low ahead of the Chinese New Year break, as investors grew wary of potential disruptions to hyper-scalers' artificial intelligence (AI) investments due to Deepseek.
"Nonetheless, we are adamant that foreign funds will eventually look at Asia being a preferred destination due to reasonable valuations as compared to those overvalued ones on Wall Street.
"Thus, we can expect a U-turn in foreign funds back to the region. For today, we anticipate the index to hover within the 1,550-1,560 range," it said.
