Cypark's floating solar facility in Kelantan now fully operational

KUALA LUMPUR: Cypark Resources Bhd's floating solar plant Danau Tok Uban 1 (DTU 1) in Pasir Mas, Kelantan has achieved its commercial operations date (COD) with generation capacity of 30MWac.

This follows the COD achieved by the renewable energy company for DTU 2 on Jan 7 this year.

The development of the floating solar plant, which begin in 2022, were part of second large scale solar (LSS2) scheme, aiming to increase the nation's renewable energy capacity.

Cypark said following the strategic review launched 12 months ago, this milestone marks the successful completion of all outstanding projects under the company's reconstituted board of directors and new senior management.

The combined 60MWac floating solar facility is now fully operational and supplying clean energy to the national grid.

Cypark executive chair Datuk Ami Moris said the COD achieved reflects more than just a project completion as it signifies a transformation in capabilities and leadership.

"Over the past year, we have strengthened our management and engineering teams, successfully completed key renewable energy projects and resolved outstanding challenges to position Cypark as Malaysia's leading renewable energy company," he said in a statement.

Executive director Muhammad Ashraf said with Danau Tok Uban now fully operational,  Cypark had chieved three commercial operations for three large-scale solar plants within the span of 12 months, closing the chapter on all outstanding legacy projects. 

"Our next phase will firmly focus on expanding our role in domestic's green energy landscape, particularly through new growth initiatives and opportunities such as the German Tech Park in Melaka and future floating solar developments at Lake Kenyir," he added.
