BPE Energy, IKM Bintulu to drive human capital development in Sarawak's RE sector

KUALA LUMPUR: BPE Energy Sdn Bhd has partnered with Institut Kemahiran MARA Bintulu (IKM Bintulu) to spearhead a transformative human capital development programme aimed at empowering rural communities in Bintulu, Sarawak.

This strategic collaboration seeks to bolster Sarawak's economic growth by equipping individuals with industry-relevant skills through specialised short courses.

The initiative aligns with the Sarawak Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030, targeting the skill gaps and technological demands of the state's burgeoning renewable energy sector.

Under this partnership, BPE Energy, a leading training provider, will leverage its expertise to support Sarawak's industrial progress. The programme will be spearheaded by the BPE Academy, offering short courses tailored to industry needs.

These courses include process instrumentation and valve service maintenance, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) service and maintenance, Eudosia Remote Power Turbine (ERPT) using the organic Rankine cycle, electrical service for condition-based monitoring (CBM), as well as maintenance safety, health, environmental, and emergency response training.

The collaboration is further strengthened by the support of Borneo Eco Ventures (BEV) Sdn Bhd, a Sarawak-based company specialising in electrical, process instrumentation, and valve solutions for industries such as oil and gas, marine, petrochemical, and energy.

Registered under Petronas and Petros licensing, BEV plays a vital role in ensuring the programme's successful implementation within the Sarawak market.

IKM Bintulu, a premier technical and vocational training institution, has already produced over 1,000 skilled graduates through short courses in 2024. This partnership cements its position as a leader in workforce development in Sarawak.

"We are confident that our collaboration with IKM Bintulu will provide meaningful opportunities for the local workforce, helping them acquire industry-relevant skills and contributing to the broader economic growth of Sarawak," said Datuk Dr. Mohd Isnari Idris, group managing director of BPE Energy.
