BMW S1000RR races into local scene

BMW Motorrad Malaysia races to introduce the new BMW S1000RR, the newest high-performance motorcycle in its superbike segment, just in time for Hari Raya celebrations.

Deemed a dominant beast in the racing scene for more than a decade, the superbike is now finetuned for more power, agility and style.

It is powered by a newly-developed 4-cylinder in-line cross engine with a capacity of 999cc and an increased maximum output of 152kW /207hp at 13,500rpm, capable of a top speed of above 200km/h.

It also features an increased torque of 113Nm at 11,000rpm, consuming 6.4 litres of fuel per 100km of travel. The new chain-driven superbike also arrives with the BMW ShiftCam Technology which varies the valve timings and valve strokes on the intake side.

There are four riding modes as standard – Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. These riding modes also control functions such as the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and ABS Pro for increased safety when braking or in banking position, while the BMW Motorrad Integral ABS system provides an even higher degree of performance.

"Last year, we ended the year with over 100 new motorcycle owners within the superbike segment in Malaysia, following a successful introduction of the BMW S1000RR M Package at the Malaysian leg of the MotoGP in Nov last year," said BMW Motorrad Malaysia head Owen Riley.

"This success has paved the way for our latest addition to the segment as it upholds the award-winning legacy of the iconic Superbike. Well-known as the King of the Isle of Man TT, we present the New BMW S1000RR variant."

The new BMW S1000RR features the Flex Frame, creating a much leaner fuel tank and seating area trim sections for further improved support and knee grip. All elements are said to be consistently designed to ensure optimum performance in every situation.

A rear seat cover is also offered as standard with the rider's seat. The front view of the new superbike forms a narrow and streamlined silhouette, as the familiar upside-down fork offers excellent steering precision. The combination with a low-level front section supposedly gives the new superbike a light, athletic appearance.

Creating a "sporty silhouette" with the vehicle's body sitting entirely between the wheels with short overhangs. The aluminium fuel tank and cast aluminium wheels are available as standard.

Headlight features LED technology and the illuminated style element as standard, combining both low and high beams in one compact element. The LED taillight arrives with a combined dynamic brake light and comfort turn indicator in one unit. The New BMW S 1000 RR will be available in two striking colours: Racing Red and Hockenheim Silver Metallic.

Hill Start Control offers support when starting on steep inclines. Ultra-fast shifting up and down without the clutch is enabled by HP Shift Assistant Pro. The adjustable steering stabiliser also equips the new superbike along with the electronic immobiliser.

The instrument panel features a 6.5-inch TFT screen that is linked to the multi controller on the left-hand handlebar panel. Individually tailored screen displays also offer different uses to the rider.

Additionally, the New BMW S1000RR is equipped with connectivity which allows pairing of the superbike to the rider's mobile phones for convenient music playback and phone calls.

When used in conjunction with the BMW Connected app, which is exclusive to selected countries worldwide, the rider can easily access the new superbike's status and statistics.

Other highlights of the New BMW S1000RR includes the drop sensor as standard, as well as the adjustable clutch lever and adjustable handbrake lever. A detachable license plate holder is also available for owners of the new superbike.

BMW Group Malaysia managing director Harald Hoelzl said: "Every model in the BMW Motorrad portfolio is crafted with precision and tuned for the highest levels of performance, be it on the road or on the racetrack.

"The New BMW S 1000 RR is perfectly tuned for both as it raises the bar yet again with its new, formidable engine and sleek aerodynamic design."

"With the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, we are pleased to introduce this second variant of the iconic Superbike here in Malaysia."

The new BMW S1000RR is priced at RM116,500 - on the road, without insurance, and with BMW Motorrad Malaysia's All-New 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance Programmes.

Financing plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, places ownership starting from RM1,420 per month - based on estimates of 80 per cent loan on a 4-year tenure.
