KUALA LUMPUR: Unlike most actors these days, Zul Ariffin is happy that in his latest movie outing, Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba, he didn’t have to bank on his face.
That is because the character he plays, Ejim, wears a face mask.
“Actually, the character is unlike any other that I’ve played before, as it required me to wear a mask and a long wig.
“I’m very satisfied with my acting in this movie and at least, I can say to people that I’m not an actor who only sells his ‘face’ in order to attract viewers,” said the 30-year-old actor.
While he may not be “selling his face” in the movie, critics say that it is his “body” that he is selling.
Throughout the movie, Ejim is constantly topless, exposing his six-pack abs.
The J Revolusi star, however, is ready to be criticised for exposing a lot of skin.
“I anticipate that many would assume that I did it to sell the movie, but in my defense, it was merely to act out the character of this supposed creature of the jungle,” he explained.
Also in the cast of Tombiruo are Faye Kusyairi, Farid Kamil, Nabila Huda, Faizal Hussein, Datuk M. Nasir and Dynas Mokhtar.
