China's I Am A Singer is looking for Malaysian contestants; auditions on Nov 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The popular Chinese singing contest I Am A Singer, is seeking Malaysian contestants to join the show.

Auditions will be held between 11am and 5pm on Nov 27 at Produksi Seni 2020, Wisma Zelan, Jalan Tasik Permaisuri 2, Bandar Tun Razak here.

Lending a hand to the Chinese talent search from Hunan province to reach to young Malaysians is Produksi Seni 2020 who is organising the day-long auditions.

Produksi Seni 2020 chairman and executive director Datin Wendy Wong said there was no age limit for the contest produced by Hunan Television; good vocals and good performances were the main requirements.

“We hope to select between five and 10 candidates from the auditions.

“There has been a strong demand for Malaysians, as Chinese audiences love singers ‘with a difference’.”

“They need not be fluent in Chinese, participants can also sing in English, Malay or even Tamil and Hindi because it’s all about talent, which goes beyond language and culture,” said Wong in a an interview with the NST today.

The next season of I Am A Singer begins in next month, and the talents selected from the auditions December, will be coached by vocal instructors in Hong Kong and given a makeover.

The top 25 contestants, from all over the world will be selected after three to four elimination rounds, and judging is entirely by a professional jury.
