#Showbiz: Narrow escape for singer Nurul Wahab

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Nurul Wahab is lucky to be alive, after narrowly avoiding the gate of a construction site which fell onto her path.

“Thank God I dodged it in the nick of time. I dread to think that my children would lose their mother!” said the 41-year-old artiste in an interview yesterday.

Nurul said that the steel door to a condominium construction site in Bukit Ceylon was held up by three construction workers.

“It was right in front of a pedestrian crossing, and I was one of many pedestrians who might have been crushed because the three men did not hold up the gate properly,” said Nurul in an Instagram post.

“One of them was just not looking at the gate, but at the pedestrians. They were less than a metre away from me.”

Nurul urged City Hall to make sure construction workers observed safety measures at construction sites because their carelessness could endanger the lives of pedestrians and people who lived and worked in the vicinity.

“Noise pollution is another major problem from that site. I live nearby and work on this condominium is round the clock, so imagine how deafening it is at night.”

Nurul’s close friend, actress Dynas Mokhtar was among some Netizens who expressed concern for her on Instagram.

“Thank God Nurul. This is terrible,” she said.

“So lucky that you’re safe and unhurt. Construction companies and their workers must be held accountable for this,” said Nizam.
