#Showbiz: 'I've even been cheated by a VIP customer' — Zur Eda

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular 1980s singer Zur Eda who runs a business selling Raya cookies reveals that she has been cheated by many clients, including VIPs.

The 54-year-old artiste whose real name is Zuraidah Mokhtar said that she once received an order from a VIP customer totalling RM6,000.

“When the cookies were ready, I tried to contact that customer so that I could deliver the order. Unfortunately, the number given was not even in service,” she said in a news report yesterday.

The singer whose hit numbers include Pelitaku and Semalam, also said: “Imagine my feelings at the time. Having to slog away to bake the cookies ordered on a specific time, only to find out that there were no takers.

Refused to surrender to the situation, she managed to sell all the cookies at a night market and to fellow artistes.

Each Ramadan, Zur Eda is constantly in the kitchen to produce at least 20,000 jars of cookies.

“I’m glad that my children continue to assist me with this business. They’ve been doing so since they were young,” said the artiste whose cookies are also available in Singapore and Brunei.
