#Showbiz: 'Dendam Pontianak' rakes in RM1.3mil after 1 week in cinemas

KUALA LUMPUR: After a week since its opening, Dendam Pontianak which stars Nur Fazura Sharifuddin and Remy Ishak, has already clocked in RM1.3 million.

The horror movie, co-directed by Glen Goei and Gavin Yap, which also lists other popular artistes in the cast such as Hisyam Hamid, Shenty Feliziana, Namron and Tony Eusoff, also received equally positive response from moviegoers across the Causeway, according to a news report yesterday.

Primeworks Studios’ film distribution and marketing manager Liz Chong said that the total collection in Singapore for the movie recorded a sum of S$500,000 (RM1.64 million).

“The movie opened on Aug 29 in Singapore (while it only premiered here last Thursday) but it broke the record held by movies Hantu Kak Limah and Dukun for similar duration of screening,” she said.

Chong added that those who had watched the movie had commented positively, especially on its art direction and cinematography.

Dendam Pontianak also features a soundtrack titled Kasihku Selamanya, performed by Malaysia’s No. 1 singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin.
