#Showbiz: Achey sells off 5 bikes to help ailing mum

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular comedian Nasir Hamzah or Achey had to sacrifice his belongings to help his ailing mother Ngaisah Hassan recover from her illness.

Achey, 34, has to date sold five of his motorcycles to fund his mother's medical expenses.

"My mother is 73 and very sick with a pancreatic illness. She needs constant medical care. I've been lending her a hand by selling five of my motorcycles, with a sixth in the pipeline," he said in a news report yesterday.

A "biking enthusiast", Achey said the health and well-being of his mother was always his top priority.

"My mother is my biggest fan, and nothing makes me happier than seeing her get better. The health of my loved ones takes precedence over my personal wealth," he said.

Achey added that he would not sell two of his motorcycles namely an EX5 model which belongs to his wife Nur Hassanah Yahya, and a classic Yamaha RX100 model which was his late father Hamzah Salam's gift to him.

Hamzah died at the age of 80 in March.

"The EX5 is my wife's vehicle, and she loves it very much. As for the RX100, that's my father's legacy of love for me, to be kept and preserved."

Achey began his acting career after winning the TV3 comedy talent search Bintang Mencari Bintang's first season in 2013.

He was mentored by the late comedian Harun Salim Bachik.

Achey has appeared in the television series Oh My English!, Kintang Kintung and Tanah Kubur and the films Abang Long Fadil 2, Hantu Wangan and Tiada Tajuk.
