#Showbiz: Meta Deadpool ribs Ryan Reynolds' movie trailer 'Free Guy'

KUALA LUMPUR: Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds who is known for his big screen role as Deadpool was recently seen in character as the quirky superhuman antihero in a reaction video to the trailer of his latest film, Free Guy.

In a tweet on his official Twitter account the 44-year-old Canadian artiste joked that, "This is the most expensive reaction video ever made."

The fourth wall-breaking four minute-plus hilarious video which was uploaded on Reynolds' YouTube channel on Wednesday, saw him roasting the trailer in typical meta Deadpool fashion while seated on a couch.

At one point Deadpool commented that Reynolds' "face is so punchable."

Joining the quippy masked superhuman clad in red was the stone warrior Korg, voiced and motion-captured by Taika Waititi, who first appeared in the Thor Ragnarock movie.

Both Reynolds and Waititi star in the upcoming film Free Guy which is expected to hit cinemas around the world next month.

The sci-fi action comedy directed by Shawn Levy had already been pushed back three times from its original July 2020 release date due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In it, Reynolds plays a non-player character in an open world video game who becomes aware and has to work against time to save himself before the game's developers shut it down.

The funny reaction video featuring the two Marvel Comics characters has already garnered over 8.42 million views and more than 581,000 likes.

It also represents an introduction of sorts for Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which is under the purview of Disney-owned Marvel Studios.

The previous two hit Deadpool movies starring Reynolds in 2016 and 2018 were under 20th Century Fox before it was bought over by Disney in 2019.

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the third Deadpool film would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Free Guy is produced under the newly named 20th Century Studios.
