#Showbiz: BTS launches 'Permission To Dance' challenge on YouTube

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean K-Pop kings BTS have a special YouTube treat for fans. From Friday until Aug 14, they invite Netizens to join in the Permission To Dance Challenge.

The challenge on YouTube Shorts is in conjunction with BTS' latest single Permission To Dance.

Interested Netizens are invited to come up with their most creative, 15-second shorts inspired by the K-Pop group's dance moves in the Permission To Dance music video.

Participants have to focus on the part of BTS' choreography where they use international sign language for the words "peace", "joy" and "dance".

Entertainment portal Kpopstarz reported recently that BTS would choose their most favourite shorts posted by Netizens, and include them in a compilation video.

Participants are required to post their shorts with the hashtags #PermissiontoDance and #Shorts.

YouTube Global Music head Lyor Cohen said that they were honoured to collaborate with a globally influential pop group, and promote their messages of hope and joy amongst fans.

"BTS has contributed immensely to global music, and Permission To Dance gives fans worldwide a chance to better enjoy its music and dance moves," he said.

Since its launch two weeks ago, the music video for Permission To Dance has received more than 170 million views on YouTube.

The song is also at the top of the Billboard 100 charts in the United States, ousting another BTS hit single Butter which topped th charts for seven weeks.

BTS is one of the top five artistes with more than 10 billion views on YouTube. The group has 54 million subscribers, the third highest in YouTube.
