KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has given his assurance to resolve issues linked to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that has been affecting those in the creative industry.
In a tweet on his official Twitter account yesterday, he wrote: "God-willing, there would be good news for arts and creative industry practitioners. After an announcement, I will share the details, God-willing."
In a previous tweet, he expressed his awareness of the troubles that the creatives were facing and his intention to do something about it.
"Those in the creative industry have long been affected by the MCO.
"It's time that we present to the National Security Council (NSC) in order to quickly consider loosening certain SOP, especially for those who have already received their two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
"Hopefully, there will be good news for them soon," he said.
Since March last year, the creative industry had been one of many sectors that were badly hit by the deadly pandemic.
Arts-related activities including filming had been completely halted in an attempt to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
In July, the NSC had permitted filming activities to resume once more in accordance with strict SOP.
Unfortunately, these projects do not include the majority of arts practitioners.
At the time, National Film Development Corporation (Finas) CEO Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri had announced that filming activities outside of a studio would only be allowed to resume in stages.
He added that these activities would be restricted to projects that had remaining scenes to be shot or previously halted works and not for any new productions.
Aside from that, it would be compulsory for everyone involved in the productions including crew members and artistes to receive two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine before they be allowed to the set for filming.
It was previously reported that the authorities would permit filming activities outside of a studio in adherence to strict SOP during Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
