#Showbiz: Siti Nurhaliza performs theme song of Anwar biopic

KUALA LUMPUR: Pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza has been given the honour of singing the theme song of the coming biopic Anwar, The Untold Story.

The song Menjaga Cintamu is composed by Andi Rianto and written by Sekar Ayu Asmara of Indonesia.

"It is a beautiful song and a dream come true for me to sing it. I have always wanted to work with Andi who is a major name in Indonesia," said Siti in an interview with Berita Harian Online yesterday.

Siti described the song as an anthem of a wife's love of and support for her husband and her willingness to undergo all of his tribulations.

"It is not just a tribute to (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's wife) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, but to all Malaysian women who are strong and resilient," she said.

Siti recently recorded Menjaga Cintamu within an hour at the studio of composer Aubrey Suwito here.

She thanked the film's executive producer Zukiflee Anwar Haque and director Viva Westi for giving her the opportunity to sing it.

"The biggest challenge was my voice. I am still in the process of recovering from the symptoms of Covid-19 and it was not in good condition."

Anwar, The Untold Story is produced by Bianglala Entertainment and was filmed in Malaysia and Indonesia last year.

The film which will premiere next month tells the story of Anwar's political journey from Cabinet Minister to political prisoner, opposition leader and finally Prime Minister, and stars Farid Kamil as Anwar.
